How did the continents split? The continents were not just split apart as they are right now; they were one huge frozen piece of land. What I believe has happened right now is that the continents were split apart from heat. As we can see on the map/globe of the Earth the continents are not perfectly split, they are crooked. They spread apart because if you bring a frozen piece of land and add heat or water it will split into non-straight pieces. Water can also split them apart. That is how I think continents split apart and moved.
